REFLEXOLOGY

Find out more here about both foot and cranial reflexology, and how they can support your health and wellbeing, body and mind...

Reflexology is a wonderful way of maintaining your body's healthy balance and general wellbeing, reducing stresses and tensions, but also giving you space to reflect on the mind as well as the body. People often find they fall into a deep state of relaxation during reflexology, which can be as restorative as sleep, increasing the flow of nutrients, oxygen and energy to all parts of the body, and helping with the removal of toxins. And, while it is not a cure, reflexology can be particularly helpful in managing many health conditions, especially constant or recurring ones that we might have come to accept over time as being a normal part of life.

I'm always happy to advise on which is most suitable for you. As a general rule, if you have something particular you'd like help with I would advise foot reflexology first , so we can start to rebalance the body and begin to deal with the specific issues you are struggling with.

If you also need some nurture and extra relaxation, then the mixed foot and cranial treatment is lovely. And if you'd just like a relaxing, soothing treat, cranial reflexology on its own is deeply calming, helping to release and rebalance your energy.

While both foot and cranial reflexology treat the whole body, I often tailor them to suit specific health and wellbeing issues during a session. Clients leave feeling relaxed, de-stressed and also energised - many clients reporting an improvement to their symptoms over the next 48 hours. As with all treatments this is a space for you to completely relax and switch off and take an hour to yourself while I do the hard work!

FOOT REFLEXOLOGY

Support with hormonal issues, fertility, periods, pregnancy, back pain, migraines, anxiety, stress, digestion, and ongoing conditions such as fibromyalgia, ME, CFS, long Covid. Reflexology can support you by looking at cause, triggers, lifestyle, diet and rebalancing the systems of the body by working of various reflex points on the feet. Each session the whole body is worked (via the feet) to rebalance everything, and bring about homeostasis (balance) throughout.

CRANIAL REFLEXOLOGY

If you feel you need extra support in relaxing deeply, general stress relief and wellbeing, back, neck or head tension, migraines, energy rebalance and realignment, then, similarly to foot reflexology, various reflex points are worked on the head, along with beautifully calming massage, easing tension. The treatment enables release of compression and restriction of cranial nerves, giving more space for cranial fluids to flow.

REFLEXOLOGY FOR WOMEN

I have nearly 20 years of experience of working with women of all ages - and I know how supportive reflexology can be for ferttility and conception, as well as pregnancy, post-natally and through perimenopause. I discovered reflexology when I was pregnant with my second child, now 22 years ago. After a particularly traumatic first labour, I had reflexology for the last ten weeks of my second pregnancy and the labour was a whole different experience - fast, happy, empowering. I know that all these aspects of being a woman can leave us feeling depleted in mind and body, and reflexology can offer both a gentle space to slow down, and a restorative and nurturing treatment that can heal and hold you through some of the more challenging times of your life.

FERTILITY & CONCEPTION

Many couples experience problems that make it difficult to conceive. Some are known, others remain unsolved. Sometimes it can just be a small energy imbalance or blockage. Reflexology may help to rebalance all the systems in the body, andby working specifically on the reflex points of the reproductive system, thus aiding conception. I would love to support you during this time, and have completed further training in 'Reflexology in Pregnancy & Childbirth' run by world expert Moshe Kruchik.

PREGNANCY, BRITH & POST-NATAL

Reflexology during and after pregnancy may be extremely beneficial to both mother and baby. Throughout your pregnancy significant hormonal, physiological and emotional changes occur. Reflexology aims to rebalance and maintain a natural equilibrium throughout this time. It may also help your body prepare for birth by easing tension and helping you to soften into what is ahead. Once the baby is born, postnatal reflexology can assist the body to heal quicker and rebalance the hormones. It may also help with sleep problems, postnatal depression and energy levels. For your baby, a very gentle form of reflexology may help with sleep and digestion; and I can also teach you these gentle moves so you can continue treating your baby at home.

( Reflexology is a complementary therapy and full midwife/doctor care must be followed throughout pregnancy and labour. It is advisable to let your health professional know you are receiving treatments and it is also imperative that you let me know of any complications or problems during your pregnancy. I do not treat during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. )

PERIMENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE

"“I am not disappointed, by my old age. There are still stories to tell, paths to walk,

and fire within, that refuses, to diminish.” (Bhuwan Thapaliya

This period of time in a woman's life can be a rollercoaster of emotions and health issues. With the rebalancing affect of reflexology we can tackle this time together and tailor a plan to suit your needs.

This support can help your body to rebalance those hormones and calm the symptoms and anxieties that come with menopause.

Reflexology is a wonderful way of maintaining your body's healthy balance and general wellbeing, reducing the stresses and tensions that come with menoapuse, but also giving you space to reflect on the mind as well as the body.

Frequently asked questions

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different and the response to Reflexology can be immediate or sometimes take longer than one appointment, but often lasting benefits can be seen after 2-3 sessions. Regular weekly treatments are best for the body to properly beginning the self-healing process, and following an initial consultation I will suggest the number of Reflexology sessions I think we should undertake.

What are your fees and availability?

Reflexology sessions for individuals last 45 minutes and cost £48 per session. I also provide a limited number of appointments for those on low-income; contact me to enquire about availability.

Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 24 hours’ notice; otherwise you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment by card or cash.

Can you diagnose my health problems?

Reflexologists cannot claim to diagnose or cure, but during a treatment we get 'feedback' as to which parts of the body are working well and which are not. Sometimes Reflexology will highlight a specific area which is struggling or working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point shows this kind of reaction I'll discuss it with you at the end of the session.

What happens in a treatment? Do I need to undress?

Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet, ankles or head, so the most you’ll have to do is take off your socks and roll up your trousers! During the treatment the client lies on their back on a massage couch, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket to keep them warm.

Does reflexology hurt?

You might find some areas feel sensitive to the touch, but Reflexology does not involve hard pressing in the way something like a sports massage might. As a therapist I will be aware of the status of your feet, noticing how they feel, the temperature and colour. All these things play a part in understanding which areas of your body - as reflected through your feet - require a bit more care and attention.

Should I keep on having Reflexology?

Not necessarily, but after an initial course of treatment many people choose to check in monthly for a top-up, to help maintain their general wellbeing, or as a scheduled 'de-stress'. Other clients will get back in touch if they start feeling aches and pains, arranging treatments as and when they need them.
